Pretty stoked! I earned a pull at Empires & Puzzles “Fated Summons” today!
The Fated Summon is a relatively new feature (I think it launched around 2023?) allowing “you to summon a Legendary Hero of your choice when the summon bar is full.”
So after you’ve summoned 100 heroes (not counting Legendary pulls, daily summons, or bonus draws), you get to pick from a lineup of twenty five-star (“Legendary”) heroes they’ve whittled down for you to choose from:
Unless you regularly spend money in game, it takes quite awhile to rack up a hundred summons, so most of us give this choice quite a bit of consideration. Five-star heroes are pretty valuable, and actually getting to CHOOSE one that you want feels really special.
I think this is only the second or third time I’ve gotten to experience the Fated Summon, so it’s definitely a big deal. I’ve been playing for many years, so I know how rare of an occurrence it is.
Having said that, I didn’t research or deliberate a whole lot. While it makes sense for players to really put some time, thought, and energy into picking the very best possible hero they can in these circumstances, I personally am a casual enough gamer that I’m not overly concerned about selecting the strategically BEST, MOST POWERFUL, or MOST EFFECTIVE hero I possibly can to complement my existing roster. I rarely participate in wars, and am not even able to consistently hit titans, so for me I mostly just want someone new and fun to play with.
Basically I look for a hero that 1) generates mana FAST for speedy specials, 2) is of an element I’m shorter on than others, and 3) is, frankly, aesthetically neat-o to my eyes and/or exhibits a character that tickles my fancy and/or stories or worlds I enjoy inhabiting.
If I did not already have Morel, that’s what I would’ve picked (adorable, plus I love specials that lower enemy defenses all in one fell swoop, and QUICKLY, as Morel does). But I *do* already have Morel (yay!) so … this is who I selected:
Doing a cursory web search of who other players think are the best picks from the Fated Summon this round (they change every 180 days), Milena is not mentioned as a top contender for best selection. But I was lacking a legendary ice healer while also loving her charge speed of “Magic” which makes her more versatile (and unpredictable, which I enjoy).
It will take me quite a while to get her leveled up and fully-ascended, but I’m looking forward to what she’ll do for my all-blue teams in the future.
I’m excited to find out what she SOUNDS like when she casts her special skills! Especially since there are two different ones, depending on how much mana she’s got stored up. Sound effects and music are huge factors in my enjoyment of games, but it’s impossible to preview what a hero sounds like in game, so that remains to be seen …
